The Uppsala MedTech Science and Innovation Centre is hosting a one-day conference on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. With this conference we aim to bring together people working in the MedTech field here in Uppsala, inform about various ongoing works, and spark new collaborations between the University Hospital and researchers at Uppsala University. The theme of this year's conference is "MedTech within distributed health care", which focuses on bringing MedTech and health care closer to the patient.

MTSI are very proud to announce that PhD candidate Josefin Hagström was awarded the Peter L Reichertz Young Scientist Prize at the MIE2023 conference in Gothenburg. 

Charlotte Blease and Maria Hägglund has been awarded a visiting researcher grant from the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy at Uppsala University. 

The Participatory e-health and health data research group, led by Maria Hägglund, has been granted funding from the Swedish research council (VR) for a 3-year project aiming to explore how we can use patients’ online record access to find and address documentation errors that could lead to patient safety issues and harm. Participating researchers are Anna Kharko, Charlotte Blease, and Sara Riggare.

Thursday 8th of December, Annika Bärkås will present one of her studies in a SFMI webinar. 

 On the 28 April 2022 at 12.00-13.00, Annika Bärkås, PhD student at MedTech Science and Innovation Centre, Uppsala University, will present her research on patients' online access to their mental health records at Karolinska Institutet, Health Informatics Centre's seminar series HI Conversations. 

This seminar series is brought to you by the Division of Biomedical Engineering, Dept. Materials Science and Engineering and MedTech Science & Innovation Centre, with the aim of bringing together people at UU and beyond with an interest in biomedical engineering and to share news on the research that is going on across the university in this area.

Annika Bärkås is the first author of this publication exploring how patients are given access to their electronic health records from psychiatric care across Sweden. 

Vitalis is the largest Nordic eHealth conference and researchers from the implementation and eHealth group will be participating in two sessions.  

Maria Hägglund is one of the co-authors for a new publication in the Journal of Medical Ethics where the authors argue that denying patients online access to their health records can be seen as a case of epistemic injustice.  

Maria Hägglund co-authored an article exploring international experts opinions on preparing patients and clinicians for patients' online access to the notes in their record in a mental health context.  

Irene Muli has co-authored an article "Determinants for the use and de-implementation of low-value care in health care: a scoping review’’ published in Implementation Science Communications.
