MedTech Science and Innovation Day 2023
The Uppsala MedTech Science and Innovation Centre is hosting a one-day conference on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. With this conference we aim to bring together people working in the MedTech field here in Uppsala, inform about various ongoing works, and spark new collaborations between the University Hospital and researchers at Uppsala University. The theme of this year's conference is "MedTech within distributed health care", which focuses on bringing MedTech and health care closer to the patient.
Josefin Hagström awarded the Peter L Reichertz Young Scientist Prize
MTSI are very proud to announce that PhD candidate Josefin Hagström was awarded the Peter L Reichertz Young Scientist Prize at the MIE2023 conference in Gothenburg.
Charlotte Blease awarded visiting research grant
Charlotte Blease and Maria Hägglund has been awarded a visiting researcher grant from the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy at Uppsala University.
VR-funding to study documentation errors and patients online record access
The Participatory e-health and health data research group, led by Maria Hägglund, has been granted funding from the Swedish research council (VR) for a 3-year project aiming to explore how we can use patients’ online record access to find and address documentation errors that could lead to patient safety issues and harm. Participating researchers are Anna Kharko, Charlotte Blease, and Sara Riggare.

Sara Riggare's Dissertation & Personal Science Symposium
Sara Riggare will defend a PhD thesis that was based on self-research. By means of self-tracking she was able to get a grip on the medication she requires to keep the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease at bay. To celebrate this unique PhD ceremony there will be a Personal Science Symposium in the afternoon between 3 - 5 pm CET. During this online symposium several great speakers will share their view on this emerging field of personal knowledge creation.
Scoping review on patients access to mental health records
Annika Bärkås at MTSI is shared first author on a recently published scoping review. The research was performed partly within the NORDeHEALTH project, and is the first scoping review study collating existing evidence about sharing EHRs or clinical notes with people treated for mental health conditions.

Lunch webinar Digital Care February 19
Researchers from the MedTech Center participate in the Swedish Collaboration on Digital Care Research. We will start a series of lunch webinars with presentations of new research related to digital care. 19th of February 12.45-13.00 is our first webinar, where professor Åsa Cajander, Uppsala University, will present a study on how a chat function affected the work environment of healthcare professionals at 1177.
1st of January 2021 was the starting point of an exciting new Nordic research project lead by Maria Hägglund from the MedTech Center, NORDeHEALTH, and today we had our kick-off meeting.
